World's Best Dad!

We are so lucky to have the worlds best Dad right here in our house! How do we know? Well...

The world's best dad is silly and loves to play games.
He takes you on great adventures...
... and teaches you to love fires from an early age.
The world's best dad is an amazing cook and makes the best food for everyone.
He helps build pinewood derby cars...
... and drives you all over the place.
Of course the world's best Dad makes sure to embarrass you in front of your friends!

We're SO lucky to have him around! We were reminded just how wonderful it is to have him here when he headed to Colorado for another 3-week teaching assignment at University of Northern Colorado. We hate having him gone, but appreciate how hard he works to support our family.

It was a long three weeks without him, and Walter REALLY missed "Dada" while he was gone. He would ask for him daily and go crazy when we FaceTimed.

Finally though, Dada was home. Walter's face says it all!

By the time Michael got home from Colorado, Hazel was gone for choir tour, then both she and Eliza were gone at girls camp. After a whole month of someone being away, tonight was the first time in a that everyone was home for dinner. And it felt SO good! I love this beautiful family we have, and now that everyone's safely under one roof again I can relax.

Thanks Michael for being the worlds' best Dad! You help make our home a place of love, learning, fun, faith, and amazing food. We LOVE you!!

Found His Sport

Orson played baseball this season and LOVED it! He told me, "Mom, I've found my sport." He says his favorite part of baseball is playing baseball!

In true Orson style, he was always super focused during practices and the game. I love that when Orson commits to something, he give it 110%. He made tons of progress with his batting and by the last game he didn't strike out at all and hit a ball all the way to the grass.
In the outfield, Orson gravitated toward playing short stop. During one game, he even caught a fly ball for an out!!!

Of course, he had a fan club cheering him on from the stands. Walter especially seemed to enjoy watching him play.

Gram and Grandpa came to a few games, and Grandpa Tony was in town for a few games too.

Another baseball highlight was seeing his first minor league game. We took my Dad to a Bees game and the boys both had a blast. I see plenty more baseball in our future.

A Forest School Camping Trip!

The kids and I enjoyed a quick camping trip with some of our Forest School friends. We camped near Vernon, UT in what felt like the middle of nowhere right on what used to be part of the Pony Express Trail. There's still a herd of wild mustangs in the area, and we were lucky enough to catch sight of them!

Views from camp!

We got to visit the Dugway Geode beds and dig for geodes. Funny story, driving out there we took the wrong road and ended up driving about 5 miles on this crazy dirt road. I didn't know my minivan was an off-roading vehicle haha. But we made it. It was surprisingly easy to find geodes. The kids had a blast!

Conrad found the muddiest puddle of water that was full of tadpoles and frogs.

That night we enjoyed the most amazing sunset!

The next morning we enjoyed camp breakfast, and Walter learned he ADORES watermelon. We packed up camp then headed off to a nearby reservoir.
Can't wait for more camping adventures this summer!
