Happy Birthday Orson

Dear Orson!

Happy Birthday sweet boy! We cannot believe you're already a year old! We all absolutely love having you in our family.

You are growing up so much! You are signing more and more things each day. So far you know how to sign: dad, mom, dog, more, eat, and milk. We've even seen you attempt to sign each of the girls name signs and you just learned to sign puppy Haley's name sign, You're also starting to talk. Mostly you say mama and uh-oh. In fact, uh-oh is your go to word for any time you drop something, can't reach something you want, see a problem, or just want the attention of anyone except mom.

You love Daddy so much! Everyday when he gets home your whole face lights up and you crawl to the door as fast as you can. You also adore each of your sisters. You love to play with Lenora during the day and wrestle with her. And when we pick up the big girl from school your whole face just lights up when you see them. Of course you love mama too! I love how you give me lots of cuddles when you first wake up and the way you shake your head when I sing you "Old McDonald."

Something else you LOVE are your white blankies. Someone gave us a four-pack of these thin white blankets and they have become your favorite thing. Hazel and Eliza have their lovies, but you only want white blankie. Some of your other favorite things are: driving toy cars, animal sounds, eating, the dogs, and phones.

To be honest there isn't much you don't like. You don't like it when the girls try and help you do something you think you can do alone or when we take away something you can't have. While you really love other kids your age you tend to grab their clothes and get a bit rough and you hate it when we move you away from them. For some really strange reason you also strongly dislike bananas.

Can I tell you how adorable you were on your birthday? It was like you knew it was your special day and wanted to show off. We went to story time at the library which you always enjoy:
You figured out how to stand in your casts!!
After school the girls and decorated the dining room for you and made your cake:

Once daddy got home he decided to add "hay bales"which were a nice touch!

You were so excited for your cake! First you drove the tractors around in the frosting a bit...

Then you realized it tasted amazing! You nearly finished that entire piece! All that sugar made you hyper and you were smiling and being so silly. It was adorable!

Then it was time to open a few gifts. Your face just lit up the entire time. We all love you so much Orson! Thanks for being a light in our home and a joy to our family!

About a week and a half after your birthday your casts came off for good! Your feet are looking so much better! For now you'll be wearing your shoes on the wrong feet for at least a few months to help hold the correction and train your muscles up a bit. As for your 1-year stats you were 19 lbs 1oz and 29 1/2" tall. You have a big head but you're definitely on the small end of the chart for weight. Most importantly you are very healthy!

Happy Birthday Orson!!!
