One Year Check up

Hazel's pediatrician was out of town for a little bit so she just had her one year checkup. Everything looks great! Here are her stats...
19 lbs 5 oz (10-25 percentile)

30 1/4 " (75-90 percentile)

Still a tall skinny thing:) My favorite part of the appointment - they drew blood to check her iron and lead levels. Hazel was absolutely fascinated by the red stuff coming out of her finger and didn't cry or squirm the whole time. Then they put on a huge band-aid (so she wouldn't choke on it if she tried to eat it). She kept flapping her hand trying to get it off, looking at me for help, then flapping some more. It was really funny.

Becca's Visit

My good friend Becca came out to visit us for a few days. It was wonderful to have her here. We wanted to hike Pike's Peak while she was here, but unfortunately there was the potential for severe lighting both day so we couldn't. But we had a blast anyways.

On Thursday (Hazel's actual birthday) we went to the zoo. It was a blast as always:)

We were all worn out from a fun day:)

Hazel got a cupcake after dinner to celebrate again:)
Friday Becca, Hazel and I went on a short hike up to Helen Hunt Falls. It was beautiful! (Sorry all the pictures from Friday are on Becca's camera).

Then Saturday we went to the Renaissance Festival. It was so much fun to see all the vendors and shows. Becca found the most amazing sandals ever and made her trip!
Hazel with a unicorn.

Hazel with a fairy (notice her fairy tutu too!)

We had to put Mike in the stocks for chasing after too many wentches (haha, just kidding)

The highlight of Hazel's day was riding this kiddie ride she rode all by herself. I was hesitant to put her on it because I thought she would either try to stand up or wouldn't like it, but we decided to give it a try. I couldn't have been more wrong - she LOVED it!
She giggled and smiled the entire time. At one point she even put her hand up in pure elation! This girl is going to be an adventurer that's for sure.

It was so much fun to see Becca! Thanks for coming to visit. (For our Utah Trip see below)

The Utah Trip

Here are some highlights from our Utah trip. I'd plan to write more about what we did and such, but now I don't feel like it.

Hazel did great the majority of the trip. The car ride out was a bit boring for her but she amused herself pretending her foot was a microphone:)

Saturday we had a birthday party for Hazel. Both sets of grandparents were here, great-grandma Craig, and more friends and family. Hazel had a blast and loved the free balloon my aunt Holly picked up from the dry cleaner.
She also had fun playing with Aidan Knapton. He's only two months younger than she is.
Cake.....

"Ahhh, that was good!"

Saturday night we went to Stadium of Fire (thanks Teri and Tony!) and saw Carrie Underwood. It was a great concert and the fireworks were amazing!

On the 4th of July we went to the Deaf ward in Salt Lake. It was so good to see all of our old friends and for them to meet Hazel:)

That night we joined my mom's family up Hobble Creek Canyon for a fire cookout.

Monday we met up with our good friends Josh and Lisa for In-N-Out (mind you Mike went 2 other times alone, haha). After the babies napped we all went swimming at the Lehi Rec Center (which is awesome!)
Hazel was pretty timid at first....
.... but she eventually warmed up to the idea.
Monday night we went another campfire cookout with my good friend Becca's family. Here's Hazel playing with Becca's baby sister Abby on their trampoline before we left.
Tuesday morning we met up with friends and then Tuesday afternoon we went to Woods Cross for a BBQ with Mike's Aunt Janet and his cousin Holly and her family.
Hazel with her cousin Hailey.
Wednesday we drove home and Becca came with us! More on Becca's visit to follow:)

Forgot to Mention....

I forgot to mention that Hazel honored her birthday by taking 3 steps by herself! Right now she'll take a few steps to get to something she wants but soon she'll be walking everywhere.

Hazel at a Year

While we were in Utah we had a birthday party for Hazel with family. It was a blast and of course Hazel had fun. Her favorite present was a free balloon that my Aunt Holly got at the dry cleaners and attached to her gift haha. She went wild with that thing.

After presents we had cake. Naturally Hazel loved it and made a huge mess. When she was done she sat with her hands behind her head like an old man:)
On her actual birthday we took her to the zoo and she got more cake:) You may not care, but here's a what Hazel's doing now...
- She says "bye-bye" in a funny, dreamy voice anytime someone leaves the room or puts on their shoes

- She waves hello, points to items she wants, laughs/claps when she hears other people laughing/clapping
- She is imitating everything. This morning I was coughing and she did a cute fake cough too:)
- She's starting to sign dog while saying "doggie" She still signs milk all the time but now it means a variety of things mostly that she's hungry.
- She will randomly give us hugs:)
- She is not afraid of anything! Yesterday she went on a spinny kid ride all by herself and LOVED it!
She has grown up so fast we cannot believe it. She is an amazing girl with lots of spirit. Mike swears her personality is exactly like mine. We are so blessed to have her in our family!

Blog Catch Up

I've been way behind on our blog so here's my attempt to catch up....

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. I was off Monday and Tuesday so we were able to go do some fun things. We had dinner with several friends and just spent time as a family. We decided to get a membership to the Chyenne Mountain Zoo and we're so glad we did. Hazel LOVED the zoo. She got so excited every time we saw an animal. The only part she didn't enjoy was feeding the giraffes. She wanted to eat the 'giraffe cracker' and was upset when the giraffe took it from her:) Haha.

Orangutan baby and his Mom.

Giraffe Baby

Last week was also my birthday. I had a great day! Mike got me Glee on DVD, some clothes, and tickets to go see the BodyWorlds Exhibit in Denver. We left Hazel with my parents and had a great date night going to the exhibit. I LOVED every minute of it - I'm such an anatomy nerd. Mike even enjoyed it. You couldn't take pictures inside so this is the only picture we got. Seriously if you ever have a chance to see it - GO! It's amazing.

We've been busy packing to move to our new apartment on Saturday! We can't wait! It's about the same size as our apartment now, but much nicer. It has two bathrooms and a patio neither of which we have now. Also the complex has a playground which Hazel will love. I'll post pictures as soon as we get settled.

After BodyWorlds on Friday we spent the rest of the weekend seeing my cute brother Harrison off on his mission. He's going to Halifax Canada and entered the MTC on June 9th. He's an awesome kid! I love that boy. We'll sure miss him while he's gone, but we know how important the work he's going to do is. My dad is a living testimony that missionaries do amazing work by bringing people to the gospel and allowing it to change their lives. We love you Harrison!
